Scholarships
The NLE is pleased to offer a variety of scholarships for students and teachers each year.
The Maureen O'Donnell Scholarship for Academic Excellence
The National Latin Exam is proud to award annually up to 15 $2,000 scholarships to qualifying high school seniors. Applications for these scholarships are mailed to gold medal winners on the Advanced Latin Prose Exam, the Advanced Latin Poetry Exam, and the Advanced Latin Reading Comprehension Exam. Those who apply and are accepted must agree to take at least one course per semester of Latin or classical Greek in their first year of college. A course in classics translation does not meet this requirement.
The Christine Fernald Sleeper Educational Travel Award

As a "founding mother" and long-time writer of the NLE, Christine Sleeper was well-known for her adventurous spirit and her love of travel. In honor of Christine's love of classics and inspiring personal story, a recipient will be chosen annually and awarded up to $5,000 to cover expenses for an educational travel program of his or her choosing.
The Linda S. Montross New Latin Educators Scholarship

The National Latin Exam is excited to continue its New Latin Educators Scholarship. In keeping with the spirit of inspiring young people to enter the teaching profession, the NLE will award up to 10 $2000 scholarships each year to high school seniors, college students, or students enrolled in a master’s degree program.
The Sally R. Davis Graduate School Scholarship

The National Latin Exam offers a $2000 Graduate School Scholarship which is specifically for “graduate study leading to the teaching of Latin and/or Greek at the elementary, intermediate, or high school level.” It is with great pride that we name this scholarship in honor of Sally Davis, one of the original members of the Writing Committee of the NLE. The National Latin Exam Sally R. Davis Graduate School Scholarship is a one-time $2000 scholarship awarded for post-graduate study that leads to the teaching of Latin and/or Greek at the elementary, or secondary school level. Applicants must be college seniors or other professionals who are seeking a graduate degree.
The Jane Harriman Hall Professional Development Scholarship

The Jane Harriman Hall Professional Development Scholarship program is designed to support teachers in their ability to teach Latin. The scholarship was developed in honor of Jane Harriman Hall, founder of the National Latin Exam, in order to continue her efforts to bring high quality Latin instruction to students throughout the U.S.
